back in the bluegrass
david and i have just returned from a glorious nine day vacation at the beach. it's been a little difficult getting back in the routine around here. we had an awesome time with david's parents, brother, sister-in-law, and their four-month-old son. david and i made stops in atlanta on both ends of the trip to the beach. we scored a night at a four star hotel in buckhead (compliments of hotwire.com) that was absolutely divine. wow. i sat in the bathroom for forever and watched the water come out of the faucet...it was so beautiful...amazing. i have never seen water come out of a faucet like that before. we purchased a few bargains at filene's basement, ate at one of our favorite tai restaurants in virginia highlands, and stopped by B&J's for a scoop of coffee buzz buzz buzz. then we spent the week with david's family on jekyll island off the coast of georgia. doesn't compare to the beauty of the gulf coast, but we were graciously given a house for the entire week. free accomodations plus family on a non-touristy island...priceless. that's the beauty of jekyll...it's not commercialized...so it's secluded, quiet, and low key. here are some highlights of the week:
- crabbing and fishing with my brother and sister-in-law
- linda's breakfast burritos
- daily naps
- little ira's squeals, squeaks, coo's, and grunts
- cable!!! (oh my heavens...i know why we have rabbit ears. we're not cheap, we're preventing weight gain)
- listening to the sound of the ocean
- watching david and his younger brother dook it out in madden 2006 football & team up in halo 2
- poking-war bike ride with david
- lovely luncheon at the jekyll club hotel & walking on the creeky floors filled with history
- counting 26! bunny rabbits along the causeway to jekyll (it was like an easter egg hunt! so fun counting!)
- walking on the beach three in hand with david and his mom
