i am so in love. i admit it. i am in love with jen knapp. it's an obsession. i was recently reading an article of an interview she gave in '99. she said, "the main things God has used to solidify our relationship are things i can touch and see and involve myself in, such as reading the bible and memorizing it. the way God works and the way He specifically speaks to me through His Word have been invaluable. it's really bizarre to think i'm gonna read the same book every day for the rest of my life. i wouldn't do that with just any book, okay maybe a calvin and hobbes book, but there's no other book with which i really have an opportunity to continually seek God. without the bible as a foundation, i wouldn't know where to begin my relationship with God. He's given me something to read and touch and hold with my hands. "
i had forgotten about this drawing. for some odd reason i had the audacity to run for class treasurer my junior year in high school for our upcoming senior year; however, i had only been at the school for 3 or so months (i moved in the middle of my junior year as well as after my 7th, 8th, 9th, AND 10th grade year. yeah. blogging about my childhood issues will be for later). so i guess i figured i'd win by hanging creative campaign posters all over school? this one was attached to a bright red piece of poster board shouting, "pick alyson simpson for senior class treasurer." i guess my lack of couth lost it for me or the fact that nobody had a clue as to
who alyson simpson was. yeah, i wasn't our senior class treasurer. and let me ask...what pray tell, does a "high school class treasurer" do anyways? i know i didn't know then, and i still don't know now. i am afraid i was running in a "popularity election"...that's all it's really about anyways, isn't it?
so. i found this drawing the other day and after reading possible insight to jen's love for calvin&hobbes, i thought i'd post it for her. here's to you, jen. if you and i were on the playground at recess playing kickball, and i was a team captain, i would "pick" you first to be on my team.
