potential conversion

just call us fred and wilma. we don't have tivo. we don't have cable. we don't have a dish or satellite. we have rabbit ears going on four years now and honestly ...do just fine. we're not sure if we are just stubborn, cheap, or know that once we got cable, tivo, or a dish, that we'd be doomed. so we've talked about netflix for months (seems like years) as the big compromise. if we don't watch a lot of tv (we are though 24 and lost fans), but we enjoy movies, then netflix would be great. well, the discussion has finally come to an end. my boss sent me an email link to one month's free trial to netflix, and the bait was too juicy to pass up. so ha, we're up to 46 movies in our queue. it is so fun! our first official movies: flight plan, walk the line, and red eye (not quite sure how we managed to list two airplane movies at one time). we are on our second set of three already, and they should be in our mailbox today. it's so fun going to the mailbox. getting a constant flow of free movies for a month makes the trip that much more sweeter! bad thing is...this is only encouraging david and me to sit on our butts non-stop. we are gluttons for the couch and snuggling anyways, so i may be blogging in a month about how i need to lose weight. i am wondering if we'll stick with netflix after the free trial. i am sure david will want to, but my argument is, if we've lasted almost 4 years without it, then why start paying an extra $15 plus tax a month when you could save that $16 & odd change and buy at least sixteen frosties in one month? either way, netflix or frosties...my butt is going to get bigger.

great game site

here's a fun site for all those that enjoy online gaming. i have yet to explore much of the site 'cause i was originally drawn to their sudoku game; however, penguin push is a fun puzzley game. and for all those who have no patience and are easily angered gyroball is for you! ;o) sudokoozies, while you are master-minding the daily puzzle, you can choose to play along to the serene chirping of birds in the background. kinda soothing. makes trying to beat the clock less stressful. game on!

it really can happen

whenever i see weight loss commercials on tv or magazine ads, and they show the "before and after" pictures, i am always like, "there is no way that's the same person due to the fact that they are ten shades darker, their facial mole is located differently, or they transform from fat albert to he-man in only six short weeks (money back guaranteed!). WELL-HELL-HELL...let me just tell you that i have a REAL friend with REAL weight loss and these are REAL pictures! EEK, i am so excited! it's the most amazing thing ever! WHAT TRANSFORMATION. i am beyond excited for her and her drive to complete her weight loss goal. SHH, you are HOT! work it, girl.

i pick you

i am so in love. i admit it. i am in love with jen knapp. it's an obsession. i was recently reading an article of an interview she gave in '99. she said, "the main things God has used to solidify our relationship are things i can touch and see and involve myself in, such as reading the bible and memorizing it. the way God works and the way He specifically speaks to me through His Word have been invaluable. it's really bizarre to think i'm gonna read the same book every day for the rest of my life. i wouldn't do that with just any book, okay maybe a calvin and hobbes book, but there's no other book with which i really have an opportunity to continually seek God. without the bible as a foundation, i wouldn't know where to begin my relationship with God. He's given me something to read and touch and hold with my hands. "

i had forgotten about this drawing. for some odd reason i had the audacity to run for class treasurer my junior year in high school for our upcoming senior year; however, i had only been at the school for 3 or so months (i moved in the middle of my junior year as well as after my 7th, 8th, 9th, AND 10th grade year. yeah. blogging about my childhood issues will be for later). so i guess i figured i'd win by hanging creative campaign posters all over school? this one was attached to a bright red piece of poster board shouting, "pick alyson simpson for senior class treasurer." i guess my lack of couth lost it for me or the fact that nobody had a clue as to who alyson simpson was. yeah, i wasn't our senior class treasurer. and let me ask...what pray tell, does a "high school class treasurer" do anyways? i know i didn't know then, and i still don't know now. i am afraid i was running in a "popularity election"...that's all it's really about anyways, isn't it?

so. i found this drawing the other day and after reading possible insight to jen's love for calvin&hobbes, i thought i'd post it for her. here's to you, jen. if you and i were on the playground at recess playing kickball, and i was a team captain, i would "pick" you first to be on my team. what an episode!

this is what i looked like after this past week's episode of
Air Date: 05.03.06.
i confess i am a huge LOST fan. if you are a LOST junky like me, a friend shared this site that's fun to read. it's on www.usatoday.com. whitney matheson, otherwise known as "pop candy," blogs and opens the floor to all who are interested and watch LOST (among various other topics). so people will post their comments. some are outlandish, others have some validity to them. here's the link to her page. once you're there, scroll down until you find her LOST post and click on the comments to read people's theories, comments, questions, etc. be prepared, there are a lot of people with A LOT of time on their hands. it's pretty scary. compared to these people who post, i would say i am a 3 outta 10 when rating one's obession with the show. protect yourself. it's a crazy world out there.

states anyone?

click here to see if 4th grade history class paid off. dude, this is a hard one. this game challenged me by far and knocked on the door of my pride of knowing my states. however, i came through with a wipe of the brow. i'll just say this...to this day i remember studying on my parents' bed with my mom and michael stallmack. michael got them all right. i missed a couple...made me mad. to this day, i know my states and capitals. competitive? call me not. :o) perfectionist? nah... ;o) key to this little game is "average error of miles." you gotta be precise, baby! and as far as "time," i ignored it because it stressed me out. you can ignore the time too. :o)
